Privacy Policy

Budge (“we”, “us”) is a personal budgeting app made by makeitbudge.ai. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we never do with it. The short version: your financial data is yours, we don't sell it, and you can delete everything in one tap.

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address and display name.
  • Financial data you add — accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, shared expenses, and anything you import from statements or receipts. You enter this; we never connect to your bank without your action.
  • Preferences — currency, timezone, and notification choices.
  • Device push tokens — only if you allow notifications, so we can send settle-up nudges and your weekly digest.

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifiers, and we use no advertising or tracking SDKs.

How your data is used

  • To run the product: balances, budgets, safe-to-spend math, splits, and reminders.
  • AI features — when you import a statement or ask Budge a question, the relevant data (the statement image/PDF you chose, or a snapshot of your numbers) is processed by Anthropic's Claude to produce the result. It is used to answer you, not to train models.
  • Email — invites, payment nudges you trigger, and the weekly digest (which you can switch off in Settings or unsubscribe from in one click).

Who processes it

Your data lives in Google Firebase (authentication and database) and is served via Vercel. Emails are delivered by Resend. Push notifications are delivered by Expo. AI processing is performed by Anthropic. If you subscribe to Budge Pro, purchases are handled by Apple/Google and subscription state by RevenueCat; we never see your card details. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Sharing

We never sell your data and never share it with advertisers. If you use Splits with a linked friend, the shared expenses you both take part in are — by design — visible to that friend.

Retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account any time in Settings → Delete account (in the app or on the web): this permanently removes your profile, transactions, budgets, goals, splits, and shared ledgers, and deletes your login. It cannot be undone.
